EXPOSITIONS

Since 1578 – the year in which the Holy Shroud was brought to Turin to offer the Archbishop of Milan, Carlo Borromeo, the possibility of venerating it, saving him part of the long journey he would have had to make to reach Savoy and Chambéry – the Cloth has been extracted from the case that keeps it to be displayed on numerous occasions, both publicly and privately.

Until 1997 the Shroud was preserved within a silver box, rolled up on a wooden cylinder, while today it rests lying inside a new, modern container made with the aid of special materials and the most up-to-date technologies.

In this section of the site we recall some of the past expositions and, in particular, those that occurred in the last hundred years.
