THE CUSTODIAN OF THE SHROUD
With the death of Umberto di Savoia, which took place on March 18, 1983, the Shroud becomes the property of the Holy See by testamentary will. The deed of donation was completed on October 18 of the same year. The Pontifical Custos (Custodian) of the Holy Shroud is the Metropolitan Archbishop of Turin, Msgr. Cesare Nosiglia.
